For this year’s ski trip, we are going to return to the Scout Ski Weekend in Killington, VT. This is a long-lived event run by Vermont’s Green Mountain Scouting Council. The ski weekend is an incredible opportunity to ski (or learn!) in the largest ski area in the eastern U.S., with New England's biggest vertical drop at 3,050 feet. It spans six peaks, 1,509 skiable acres, and 155 trails.

Actively Registered Scouts & Adults
I’ve never skiied before. Can I still go? - Yes! We will evaluate every skier on day 1. We will be offering a day of introductory classes for Beginners & New Skiers.
My scout and/or I are accomplished skiers. Can we ski in our own group? Groups may ski independently, as long as scouts show proficiency during initial evaluation with adults, and follow the buddy system. All parties will be expected to return to meet up points at designated times.
What are the temperatures like, and how should I dress? - It routinely gets down to zero degrees, especially with breeze on ski lifts and high winds at top of the mountains. Participants should plan for appropriate layers that can be adjusted, based on conditions. “There's no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing" - Scandinavian Proverb
I prefer to snowboard. Is that ok? - For health and safety reasons, this trip will only be offering skiing.
Where do we stay? - The Green Mountain Council operates the Woodstock High School for the weekend. Scouts will sleep either in the gym, or in gender-assigned classrooms. Bathrooms are provided. Showers are also available, but have been unreliable in previous years.
Need to rent gear? - This shop (First Stop Board Barn) is much cheaper than renting at the resort, and is near the mountain. Adult leaders will ensure any scouts that rent are able to pickup gear the night before, and gear is returned at the end of the trip. Familis are responsible for coordinating rentals with the shop directly. Rental costs are not part of the troop payment below. https://www.firststopboardbarn.com/
